First Baptist Church had its sanctuary at the northwest corner of Church and Charles streets from 1882 through 1952, a leading reason for the name of “Church Street.” The church was a common gathering place for the Lewisville community, ultimately outgrowing this site and firs moving one block south on Charles Street than to a new location on the west side of town.
